HP 17 laptop i5-1135G7 17.3" FHD 16GB 512GB NVMe

The HP 17 laptop pairs an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. A 17.3 inch Full HD IPS display running at 60Hz provides a large workspace for spreadsheets, documents and video calls. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for business features and security. It suits office workers, students and home users who value screen size and a responsive solid-state drive.

Thermals noise and power draw

The system is powered by a 45W supply and a 3-cell 41 WHr battery. The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics share system memory and keep heat output modest during typical productivity tasks. Fan noise stays low when browsing, streaming or editing documents. Heavier workloads will raise temperatures and fan speed, but the chassis remains comfortable for lap use.

Upgrade perspective

This laptop replaces an older machine with a smaller screen, a mechanical hard drive or less than 16GB of memory. The jump is worth it when you need a 17.3 inch 1920 x 1080 panel, fast NVMe storage and modern connectivity including USB 3.2 Type-C, HDMI and Bluetooth 5.1 in a single silver chassis. It is not for buyers who want a dedicated graphics card, a touchscreen, an optical drive or a lighter ultraportable form factor.

Questions about this item

How do I upgrade the 16GB DDR4 SODIMM memory and which slot do people forget to seat fully?

The laptop uses a single 16GB DDR4 SO-DIMM module; to upgrade, remove the base screws, lift the cover, align the notch on the module with the slot key, press down until both side clips click, then reassemble.

What battery replacement will the 3-Cell 41 WHr unit need after a few years?

The 41 WHr 3-cell battery is internal; when runtime drops noticeably, order an HP-compatible 41 WHr replacement and have a technician disconnect the old pack and connect the new one.

At what point does the 45W power supply become the bottleneck during long heavy workloads?

Under sustained multi-core load the 45W adapter cannot deliver enough power for the CPU to hold its 4.2 GHz turbo, so the processor throttles to stay within the adapter's limit.
