300 GB 15 000 RPM SAS drive

The HP EH0300FBQDD is a 300 GB internal hard drive spinning at 15 000 RPM with a 2.5 inch SAS 6 Gb/s interface. It ships new with a Smart Carrier caddy for hot-swap bays. The dual-port design supports redundant controller paths in server chassis.

Suits high-IOPS server workloads

This drive fits 2.5 inch SAS bays that need low latency and sustained random performance. It is not for desktop PCs lacking a SAS controller or backplane, nor for users who need terabytes of capacity in a single spindle. Buyers wanting quiet, low-power storage should look at solid-state alternatives.

300 GB capacity with 15 000 RPM headroom

The 300 GB platter handles transactional databases, virtualisation logs and boot volumes comfortably. Sequential throughput saturates the 6 Gb/s link on large transfers. Random write latency rises once the queue depth exceeds the drive's native command queue, and the 300 GB limit means multiple spindles are required for larger datasets.

Questions about this item

Does my server need a 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s backplane and a free hot-swap bay to install the EH0300FBQDD?

Yes, the drive uses a 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s interface and ships with a Smart Carrier tray that slides directly into a compatible hot-swap bay.

Will the 15000RPM SAS drive work on an older 3Gb/s SAS controller?

The drive supports 6Gb/s SAS and will negotiate down to 3Gb/s on legacy controllers, though peak throughput will be limited to the slower link speed.

How can I confirm the EH0300FBQDD is healthy after installation?

Check SMART attributes via your RAID utility or OS tools — look for zero reallocated sectors, normal temperature and the drive reporting 300GB at 15000RPM.
