HP 300 GB 15K RPM SCSI drive

This 300 GB internal hard drive spins at 15000 RPM and uses an Ultra320 SCSI interface with an 80-pin connector. It is built for business desktops or servers that require a 3.5-inch form factor and includes a caddy tray for quick installation.

Sustained 320 MB per second throughput

The drive writes data at up to 320 MB per second across the Ultra320 bus, maintaining that rate during continuous workloads rather than only in short bursts. Average seek time is 4.9 ms and latency is 3 ms, so queues stay short even when multiple requests arrive simultaneously.

Hot-swap caddy and RAID readiness

The supplied tray enables hot-swap replacement in compatible bays, letting a failed unit be removed without powering down the server. The Ultra320 interface supports RAID arrays so data can be mirrored or striped across several drives for automatic redundancy.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does a 15,000 RPM SCSI drive produce when running continuously?

At 15,000 RPM the platters generate more heat and acoustic output than slower drives, so adequate case airflow is required for all-day operation.

What host interface and cabling are needed to connect this 80-pin Ultra320 drive?

The drive uses an 80-pin SCA connector for Ultra320 SCSI; a compatible SCSI host adapter or backplane with an 80-pin receptacle is required.

Can the included caddy be used in a standard 3.5-inch drive bay?

The supplied caddy fits a 3.5-inch form-factor bay, allowing the drive to mount in typical server or workstation chassis.
