  • Compatible with ProLiant DL G8 and G9 servers

300 GB 15K SAS drive for HP G8–G9 servers

This HP internal hard drive delivers 300 GB of storage on a 2.5-inch SAS interface running at 12 Gb/s. The 15 000 RPM spindle speed provides high throughput for transaction-heavy workloads in compatible ProLiant systems. It ships new with a factory-matched caddy for direct installation.

Suits G8–G9 ProLiant arrays needing fast 2.5-inch

Administrators running database, virtualization or mail workloads on listed DL models will benefit from the rotational speed and dual-port SAS link. Builders who require larger capacities, solid-state latency or non-HP chassis support should evaluate other storage tiers.

15 000 RPM spindle speed determines IOPS ceiling

The 15K RPM rating is the single specification that defines random read and write performance for this drive class. If the application demands higher IOPS than 15K mechanics can sustain, a different media type must be selected.

Questions about this item

Does the 300 GB 15000 RPM SAS drive need any scheduled maintenance or component replacement during its service life?

The drive is a sealed unit with no user-serviceable parts; no periodic maintenance or component replacement is required beyond normal server health monitoring.

What is the first performance limit reached when the 12 Gb/s SAS drive runs sustained workloads in a G8-G9 server?

The 15000 RPM spindle speed and 12 Gb/s SAS interface set the maximum sustained throughput; the mechanical rotation becomes the bottleneck before the interface saturates.

How much noise, heat and power does the 2.5 inch 300 GB 15K SAS drive generate when running continuously in a server bay?

The 15000 RPM mechanism produces audible seek noise and measurable heat; power draw follows the standard SAS 12 Gb/s specification for 2.5 inch enterprise drives.
