Adds a 5 Gbps RJ45 Ethernet port to a desktop via PCIe x1, supporting 2.5 Gbps and 1 Gbps links with a Realtek RTL8126B controller
The HP 5Gbps PCIe Network Card adds a single 5GBase-T RJ45 port to a desktop PC through a PCIe x1 slot. It uses the Realtek RTL8126B controller to deliver multi-speed operation at 5Gbps, 2.5Gbps, 1Gbps and 100Mbps. A low-profile bracket is included for compact chassis. The card is certified for Windows Vista and supports current Windows and Linux distributions.
This card suits builders who need a 5Gbps wired link to a compatible switch, router or NAS using existing Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6a cabling. It also fits administrators who require Wake on LAN for remote system startup. It is not for systems without a free PCIe slot, for connections faster than 5Gbps, or for wireless or fibre networking requirements.
The single RJ45 port negotiates 5Gbps, 2.5Gbps, 1Gbps or 100Mbps automatically. Match this speed to the peer device and cable category to obtain the expected throughput. If the network infrastructure only operates at 1Gbps, the card will still function but the 5Gbps capability will remain unused.

Check the link speed in Windows Device Manager or Linux ethtool; it should show 5 Gbps when connected to a 5GBase-T switch with Cat6 or Cat6a cable.
The box includes the PCIe x1 card and a low-profile bracket; you must provide a Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6a Ethernet cable and a free PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot.
Select the model that includes the low-profile bracket, as it fits slim cases while still using the standard PCIe x1 interface.
