HP 10Gb Ethernet NIC Module

This HP 671798-001 module adds a single 10Gb Ethernet port to compatible switch chassis. It is built for network administrators who need high-speed wired uplinks or server connections in the data centre.

Thermals noise and power draw

The card draws power directly from the host switch backplane so no external supply is required. Passive heatsinks handle normal operating temperatures without adding fan noise to the rack.

Questions about this item

How do I install the HP 671798-001 10Gb Ethernet NIC Switch Module and what step is often missed?

Slide the module into a compatible switch bay until the connector seats firmly, then secure the retaining screw; the step often missed is tightening that screw, which ensures electrical contact and prevents the card from working loose.

What maintenance or replacement will the HP 671798-001 10Gb Ethernet NIC Switch Module need later?

The module has no moving parts or user-serviceable components; maintenance is limited to keeping the switch chassis air filters clean so airflow over the board remains unobstructed, and replacement is only required if the board itself fails.
