HP 1.8TB 10K SAS Internal Drive

This HP internal hard drive delivers 1.8TB of storage on a 12G SAS interface. It spins at 10000RPM in a 2.5-inch form factor. The 512E sector format supports compatibility with enterprise storage arrays and servers. It is built for high-throughput workloads requiring consistent performance.

Suited for enterprise storage upgrades

This drive fits administrators expanding capacity in compatible HP ProLiant or array enclosures that accept 2.5-inch SAS drives. The 10K rotational speed benefits transactional databases and virtualisation hosts. Buyers needing a different interface protocol or a 3.5-inch form factor should look elsewhere. Laptop or desktop users without SAS backplane infrastructure cannot install this drive.

12G SAS interface decides compatibility

The drive connects exclusively through a 12G SAS port on a supported controller or backplane. Without that specific interface the drive will not function. Verify the host system provides a 12G SAS connection and 2.5-inch bay before purchase. The 512E sector emulation also requires controller support for correct operation.

Sustained 10000RPM operation makes the spindle motor's thermal limit the first constraint on the 1.8TB SAS drive.

How much heat and noise does the 2.5-inch 10000RPM SAS drive produce during all-day use?

The 2.5-inch 10000RPM SAS drive generates noticeable heat and audible whine when running continuously for extended periods.
