HP Aruba CX 6300 48-port PoE switch

This HP Aruba CX 6300 switch provides 48 ports with a 2880 W PoE budget for enterprise access, aggregation, core and data centre top-of-rack deployments. It supports 5 Gigabit, 10 Gigabit and 50 Gigabit Ethernet through 5GBase-T, 10GBase-X and 50GBase-X interfaces. The modular, stackable design runs a fully programmable OS with integrated analytics for monitoring and troubleshooting.

Suits networks needing high-density PoE

Organisations powering large numbers of wireless access points, IP cameras or IoT devices benefit from the 2880 W budget and 48 powered ports. The 50 Gigabit uplink capability handles heavy aggregation traffic. Environments that do not require PoE or that need only 1 Gigabit connectivity should consider simpler switching options.

2880 W PoE budget across 48 ports

The total power available for connected devices is 2880 W, which determines how many high-draw endpoints can run simultaneously. Calculate the per-port average against your device classes to confirm the switch meets the power requirement before deployment.

Questions about this item

How much heat and power does the 2880 W PoE budget generate when the switch runs all day?

The switch provides up to 2880 W of PoE power for connected devices; actual heat output depends on the total PoE load and ambient conditions.

What cabling and SFP modules must I already own to use the 10GBase-X and 50GBase-X ports?

You need compatible 10G or 50G SFP/SFP+ transceivers and matching fibre or direct-attach cables for the four SFP slots.

Will the 5GBase-T ports negotiate down to 1 Gbps for older access points and cameras I keep?

Yes, the 5GBase-T ports support multi-gig speeds and will auto-negotiate down to 1 Gbps for legacy PoE devices.
