Aruba CX 6000 48-Port PoE+ Switch

The HP Aruba R8N85A is a Layer 2 managed rackmount switch built for branch offices and midsize businesses. It provides 48 10/100/1000 PoE+ ports and four 1G SFP uplinks with a 370 W PoE budget. The AOS-CX operating system gives a consistent operator experience across the Aruba CX portfolio.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This switch fits networks that need fully managed access for IoT devices, wireless APs and security cameras with Class 4 PoE. It is not for buyers who require a higher PoE budget than 370 W or who need Layer 3 routing features not present in this model.

The spec that decides fit

The 370 W PoE budget determines how many Class 4 devices can be powered simultaneously. Check the total power draw of your APs, cameras and other PoE endpoints against this limit before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will the 48 PoE+ ports and 4 SFP uplinks on this CX 6000 switch work with my existing 10/100 devices and 1 GbE fibre modules?

The 48 ports negotiate 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps and deliver PoE+ on each, while the four SFP slots accept standard 1 GbE transceivers for fibre uplinks.

How can I verify the 370 W PoE budget is actually powering my cameras and access points after installation?

The AOS-CX OS shows real-time per-port PoE draw and total consumption in the dashboard or CLI so you can confirm the 370 W budget is allocated correctly.

Does the R8N85A ship with SFP transceivers, rack ears and a power cord, or must I buy them separately?

The switch includes rack-mount brackets and a power cord; the four SFP uplinks require separate 1 GbE transceiver modules.
