9.1 GB magneto-optical write-once disc

This 5.25-inch magneto-optical disc provides 9.1 GB of write-once storage for archival and high-security applications. It records at 14x speed with 4096-byte sectors and an antistatic shell coating to reduce read/write errors. The media is rated for up to 100 years of archival life.

Compliance-driven archiving

Suited for organisations that require immutable, standards-compliant media for long-term record keeping or legal hold. Not suited for workflows needing rewritable media, higher capacities, or faster random-access performance.

Write-once 9.1 GB capacity

The single specification that determines fit is the 9.1 GB write-once capacity; if your archive set exceeds this per-disc limit or requires rewrite cycles, this media will not meet the requirement.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the C7984A get during continuous 14x write sessions?

The media is a passive 5.25-inch cartridge with no moving parts; all noise and heat come from the drive, not the disk itself.

Which drive do I need to record on this 9.1 GB write-once cartridge?

You need a 5.25-inch magneto-optical drive that supports 9.1 GB media and 14x write speed.

Can I read this 9.1 GB MO disk in an older 5.25-inch MO drive that only handled lower capacities?

Older 5.25-inch MO drives cannot read 9.1 GB cartridges; the higher-capacity format requires a compatible drive.
