Enterprise fit

This 300GB 2.5" SAS drive is built for HP P2000 G3 and Modular Smart Array 2040 systems where hot-swap trays and 15K RPM performance are required. It serves administrators who need a qualified replacement for existing enterprise storage arrays.

Alternative workloads

Buyers who want larger capacity for bulk archives should look elsewhere, as the 300GB limit fills quickly with modern datasets. Systems without SAS backplanes or hot-swap bays cannot use this drive.

Spindle speed determinant

The 15000 RPM spindle speed defines the random I/O latency and sustained throughput you will see; it is the single figure that decides whether this drive meets your application’s performance window.

Questions about this item

Will the SAS-2 interface need a firmware update or controller change later?

The drive uses a standard SAS-2 6Gb/s interface; firmware updates are handled by the HP P2000 or MSA 2040 controller, not the drive itself.

What is the first limit reached during sustained write workloads on this 15000 RPM drive?

The 6Gb/s SAS-2 link and mechanical 15000 RPM latency set the sustained throughput ceiling before thermal throttling engages.

How much heat and noise does this 2.5" 15K drive produce in a hot-swap tray all day?

Expect higher thermal output and audible seek noise than slower drives; ensure the enclosure airflow design matches the vendor cooling specification.
