Complete Desktop System

This HP ProDesk small form factor desktop arrives with a 19 inch LCD monitor and Windows 10 preinstalled. An Intel Celeron dual core processor at 2.80 GHz and 8 GB of RAM handle everyday office and school tasks. The 500 GB hard drive stores documents and media. A DVD/RW drive reads and writes optical discs.

Upgrade From Older Hardware

The system replaces an ageing tower or basic laptop that struggles with modern web browsing and office suites. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 drives the included display without a separate card. The jump is worthwhile when a compact, ready to run workstation is needed for general productivity and light multimedia use.

Check Your Workspace And Peripherals

Verify desk space for the 14.9 by 13.2 by 3.9 inch chassis and the 19 inch monitor. Confirm that your keyboard, mouse and any legacy serial devices match the available USB 2.0, USB 3.0, VGA, DisplayPort and RS-232 ports. The unit includes a WiFi USB adapter and gigabit Ethernet for network connectivity.

Questions about this item

What physical space does the 3.9-inch-wide small-form-factor desktop and the 19-inch LCD monitor require on a desk?

The tower measures 3.9 inches wide, 14.9 inches long and 13.2 inches high, while the monitor has a 19-inch diagonal screen; allow enough depth for cables and ventilation around both units.

Which step is often missed when setting up the included WiFi USB adapter on Windows 10?

Plug the adapter into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, let Windows 10 install the driver automatically, then select your network and enter the password; skipping the driver-installation wait causes a "no internet" error.

When will the 500 GB hard drive or the 8 GB of RAM need replacement or upgrade?

The 500 GB HDD should be monitored for SMART warnings and replaced if errors appear; the 8 GB RAM can be expanded to the 16 GB maximum using the two available slots if multitasking becomes slow.
