HP DL380 Gen10 8-bay SFF virtualization server

This 2U rackmount server is built for business workloads such as virtualization, databases, backups and application hosting. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6132 processors and 128GB of DDR4 RAM deliver the multi-core performance and memory capacity needed to run multiple virtual machines and data-heavy services. The P408i-a storage controller simplifies setup and day-to-day management of the storage subsystem.

Suits IT teams running on-premise virtualization

The eight 2.5-inch drive bays and included SAS drives support high-speed local storage for active datasets. Buyers who need more than eight drive bays, who require a different drive interface, or who prefer a tower form factor should look at a different platform. The server ships without an operating system, so software licensing must be arranged separately.

Four 300GB 15K SAS drives and P408i-a controller

The supplied storage uses 15K RPM SAS hard drives connected to an enterprise RAID controller for data integrity and performance. If your workload demands solid-state media, a larger raw capacity, or a different RAID level than the controller provides, this configuration will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the P408i-a RAID controller is operational after installation?

The server LEDs for Power, Ethernet and USB will illuminate when the system posts, and the P408i-a controller BIOS will display during boot showing the four 300GB 15K SAS drives configured.

What components are included and what must be purchased separately?

The box contains the 2U rackmount chassis with dual Xeon Gold 6132 processors, 128GB DDR4 RAM, four 300GB 15K SAS 2.5-inch HDDs, P408i-a 12Gb/s SAS controller and quad-port 331FLR 1Gbps NIC. An operating system is not included.

Which memory capacity should I choose for virtualization workloads?

The server ships with 128GB DDR4 installed and supports up to 3TB using LRDIMM modules; select the maximum capacity if you plan to run many virtual machines simultaneously.
