HP EliteBook 830 G8 refurbished business laptop

This HP EliteBook 830 G8 is a refurbished 13.3-inch business laptop with an Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor, 16 GB memory and a 256 GB NVMe drive. It ships with Windows 11 Pro 64-bit and a 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display. The chassis is rated Grade A cosmetic condition.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Suits mobile professionals needing a light 13.3-inch Windows 11 Pro machine with Thunderbolt 4 ports and a quad-core i7 for office workloads. Not for buyers who want a touchscreen, a larger screen, discrete graphics, more than 256 GB of NVMe storage or a brand-new unit.

Deciding specification: 256 GB NVMe storage

The single specification that decides fit is the 256 GB NVMe drive. If your applications and local files need more capacity, this model will not meet the requirement. No larger drive option is described for this part number.

Questions about this item

Will the 12 MB L3 cache on the i7-1185G7 prevent thermal throttling during long compile jobs?

The 12 MB L3 cache helps keep data close to the four cores, but sustained loads will still raise core temperatures until the fan curve ramps up.

How loud does the cooling get when the Intel Iris Xe graphics share 16 GB system memory for video editing all day?

Fan noise rises noticeably once the shared-memory GPU and CPU both push the thermal envelope for extended periods.

Which dock or monitor must I already own to drive a second 1920 x 1080 display over the HDMI 2.0 port?

Any monitor with an HDMI 2.0 input and a standard HDMI cable will work; no proprietary dock is required.
