Built for business mobility

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0" FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor running at 2.50 GHz with a 3.10 GHz turbo frequency. It includes 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 1TB SATA SSD. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display and Intel HD Graphics 520 suit office productivity and remote management. No operating system is pre-installed.

Fits a managed fleet

The system ships without an OS so IT teams can deploy a standard corporate image. Two memory slots support up to 32 GB total for future upgrades. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the built-in panel or external monitors without a discrete GPU. The 2.5" SATA SSD bay allows straightforward storage expansion or replacement.

Suits IT-managed deployments

Buyers who want a ready-to-use consumer laptop with Windows pre-loaded should look elsewhere. The dual-core U-series CPU limits heavy multi-threaded workloads such as video rendering or large dataset analysis. Users needing a touchscreen, discrete graphics or a smaller ultraportable form factor will not find those features here.

Questions about this item

How far can the Intel Core i7-6500U push its turbo frequency before thermal limits cut in?

The processor can reach 3.10 GHz turbo frequency, but sustained workloads will drop clocks once the cooling system saturates.

What fan noise and surface temperatures should I expect when the laptop runs flat-out all day?

Under continuous load the dual-core chip and Intel HD Graphics 520 generate noticeable heat; the fan spins up audibly and the keyboard deck becomes warm.

Which operating system licence do I need to supply myself before the machine will boot?

The unit ships with no operating system installed, so you must provide and install your own Windows or Linux licence.
