14-inch FHD business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14-inch full-HD laptop built around an Intel Core i5-6200U dual-core processor running at 2.30 GHz with a 2.80 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240 GB M.2 NVMe solid-state drive. No operating system is installed, so the buyer must supply and configure their own OS.

Mobile professionals needing a ready-to-deploy

This unit suits IT teams and mobile workers who want a silver 14.0-inch non-touch display, integrated Intel HD Graphics 520, and a pre-installed NVMe drive without paying for a Windows licence. Buyers who require a touchscreen, a larger screen, discrete graphics or a pre-loaded operating system should consider a different model.

240 GB M.2 NVMe storage capacity

The single specification that determines fit is the 240 GB M.2 NVMe solid-state drive. It sets the total local capacity available for the operating system, applications and user data. If the workload demands more internal space, this laptop will not meet the requirement.

Questions about this item

Does the EliteBook 840 G3 ship with an operating system or recovery media?

The unit is supplied with no operating system installed and no recovery media; you will need to provide and install your own Windows or Linux licence.

Is the 16 GB of memory a single module or two 8 GB sticks, and can I add more later?

The 16 GB DDR3 fills both of the two available slots, so expanding to the 32 GB maximum requires replacing the existing modules.

How does the i5-6200U running at 2.30 GHz with 2.80 GHz turbo perform in everyday workloads?

The dual-core processor with Intel HD Graphics 520 handles office applications, web browsing and video playback smoothly, while the 240 GB NVMe SSD keeps boot and app-launch times short.
