Business-ready 14" FHD laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch Full HD notebook powered by a dual-core Intel Core i5-6300U processor running at 2.40 GHz with a 3.00 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500GB 2.5" SATA SSD. No operating system is pre-installed.

Suits mobile professionals needing a light FHD

Buyers who want more than 32 GB of RAM or a dedicated graphics processor should look elsewhere. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles office work and video playback but not modern 3D workloads. The 500GB drive may also limit users with large local media libraries.

Two memory slots support up to 32 GB

The system board provides two DDR3 slots with a 32 GB maximum, allowing a straightforward upgrade from the factory 8GB configuration. This ceiling determines whether the laptop can handle heavier multitasking or virtual machines.

Questions about this item

Does the Intel Core i5-6300U throttle under sustained load?

The dual-core processor runs at a base 2.40 GHz and can reach a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz; thermal limits will determine how long it holds that speed.

How loud or hot does the EliteBook 840 G3 get during all-day use?

The 14.0-inch chassis relies on integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 and a 2.5-inch SATA SSD, which typically produce modest heat and fan noise in normal office workloads.

What operating system do I need to supply to make this laptop work?

The unit ships with no operating system installed, so you must provide and install your own copy of Windows or another compatible OS before use.
