HP EliteBook 840 G3 14" FHD laptop

This HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6500U processor running at 2.50 GHz with a turbo frequency of 3.10 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB SATA SSD. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed, making it ready for business users who need a reliable mobile workstation.

Installation notes

The laptop arrives fully assembled with the operating system already installed, so no hardware installation is required. Memory upgrades are possible using the two available slots supporting up to 32 GB total. The 2.5 inch SATA drive bay allows storage expansion if more capacity is needed later. Users should ensure they have the correct DDR3 SODIMM modules for any memory upgrade.

Pre-purchase checks

Verify that Windows 10 Pro 64-bit meets your software compatibility requirements before ordering. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles standard business applications but is not suited for intensive 3D workloads. The non-touch 1920 x 1080 display provides a traditional laptop experience. Buyers who need a touchscreen or discrete graphics should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the i7-6500U is running at its 3.10 GHz turbo frequency after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose CPU, and watch the live clock speed rise toward 3.10 GHz while a heavy single-thread load runs.

Which accessories are included and what must I add for a complete workstation?

The laptop ships with the 240GB SATA SSD and 8GB DDR3 already installed; add a power adapter, external monitor, keyboard and mouse to finish the desk setup.

Should I pick the 8GB DDR3 configuration or plan an upgrade to the 32 GB maximum?

Keep the factory 8GB for everyday office tasks; upgrade to 32 GB only if you routinely run virtual machines, large datasets or memory-hungry creative apps.
