Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0" FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor running at 2.50 GHz with a 3.10 GHz turbo frequency. It includes 8GB DDR3 memory and a new 500GB SATA SSD. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed for immediate deployment.

Upgrade from older dual-core ultrabooks

Replacing a previous-generation dual-core notebook with this 6th Gen i7 yields a noticeable jump in multi-threaded responsiveness and faster storage access from the SSD. The move is worth it when your current machine struggles with concurrent business applications or slow boot times.

Fits standard business carry setups

The 14.0" 1920 x 1080 non-touch display keeps the chassis compact for daily transport while the Intel HD Graphics 520 drives external monitors over the available video outputs. Two memory slots support up to 32 GB total RAM for future expansion. The SATA SSD leaves the M.2 slot free for a second drive if additional capacity is needed.

Questions about this item

What size and interface does the internal drive bay use for the 500 GB SSD?

The laptop takes a 2.5 inch SATA drive, so the included 500 GB SSD fits that bay directly.

How is the 8 GB of DDR3 memory installed, and what mistake should I avoid?

Two slots are provided; the 8 GB ships in one slot, so adding a second module later is the upgrade path — do not try to replace a single 8 GB stick that does not exist.

What is the maximum memory the system will accept for a future upgrade?

The board supports up to 32 GB of DDR3 across its two slots.
