Business ultraportable with Skylake dual-core

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for mobile professionals who need a durable chassis, full-size VGA and DisplayPort outputs, and a SIM reader for WWAN connectivity. It ships with Windows 10 Home and includes charger and battery.

Suited for office work and legacy dock users

This unit fits users who rely on integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 for dual-monitor setups over VGA or DisplayPort and who value the built-in RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port. Buyers who want a touchscreen, discrete GPU, larger internal storage or a newer CPU architecture should look at something else.

128 GB M.2 SATA SSD capacity

The single drive is a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD, which limits the amount of local data you can keep on the device without external storage or cloud sync. Confirm this capacity meets your workload before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will the USB 3.1 Type-C port on this EliteBook 840 G3 work with my older USB 3.0 dock and peripherals?

Yes, the USB 3.1 Type-C port is backward compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices, so your existing dock and peripherals will function normally through an appropriate cable or adapter.

How can I verify the Intel HD Graphics 520 is running correctly after I set up Windows 10?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters, and confirm Intel HD Graphics 520 appears without error icons; then run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (dxdiag) and check the Display tab shows the driver is active and hardware acceleration is enabled.

Does the box contain the 128GB M.2 SATA SSD and 16GB DDR3 memory already installed, or must I buy them separately?

The 128GB M.2 SATA SSD and 16GB DDR3 memory are pre-installed; the package includes the laptop, charger, and battery, so no additional storage or memory purchase is required to start working.
