14" EliteBook for Business Mobile Workers

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0-inch business laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i5-6300U processor running at 2.4 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1366 x 768 IPS panel. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed and a webcam is included for video calls.

Suits Mobile Professionals Needing Legacy Ports

This unit fits users who require a full-size VGA output, a DisplayPort connection and a Gigabit RJ-45 Ethernet jack on a compact chassis. The single USB 3.1 Type-C port adds modern peripheral support. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a higher-resolution display or a discrete graphics engine should consider other models. The Grade B cosmetic condition means visible scratches or surface marks are present.

128 GB M.2 SATA SSD Defines Storage Capacity

The installed drive provides 128 GB of solid-state storage using the SATA protocol over an M.2 form factor. This capacity determines how many applications and local files the system can hold without external media. No additional drive bays or larger factory SSD options are described in the specifications. Verify that this space meets your workload before purchasing.

Questions about this item

What physical size M.2 drive does the 128 GB slot accept?

The 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD uses the standard 2280 form factor; the drive inserts at an angle then screws down, and the common error is not pressing it fully home before tightening the screw.

How is the 16 GB DDR4 memory installed, and what step is often missed?

Two SODIMM slots sit under the bottom cover; modules click in at an angle then lock flat, and the step people miss is pushing firmly until both side clips snap shut.

Which replaceable part will need attention first on a Grade B unit?

The included battery is a used component on a Grade B laptop; plan to replace it when runtime drops below your needs, using the HP part number for the 840 G3.
