Business laptop for everyday workloads

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for office tasks and mobile productivity. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor at 2.4 GHz with 8 GB DDR4 memory. The 256 GB SATA M.2 SSD provides fast boot and application loading.

Capacity and headroom for multitasking

The 8 GB DDR4 memory handles typical business multitasking such as document editing, web browsing and video calls. The 256 GB SATA M.2 SSD stores the operating system and a solid working set of files. Heavy workloads like large datasets or virtual machines will exceed the available memory and storage headroom.

Thermals, noise and power in daily use

Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 uses shared system memory and keeps thermal output modest during typical office use. The 14.0 inch FHD LED backlit display runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution without a discrete GPU adding heat. Fan noise stays low for standard productivity tasks while the 2.4 GHz processor maintains steady performance.

Questions about this item

Will the USB 3.1 Type-C port on this EliteBook 840 G3 work with my older USB 3.0 docking station?

How can I verify the Intel HD Graphics 520 is running correctly after I install Windows 10 Pro?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters, and confirm Intel HD Graphics 520 appears without error codes; then run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (dxdiag) and check the Display tab for the correct driver version.

Does the box contain a DisplayPort cable for the full-size DisplayPort output, or do I need to buy one separately?

The package includes the laptop, charger and battery only; a DisplayPort cable for the full-size DisplayPort output is not supplied and must be purchased separately.
