Purpose-built Laptop

This HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. The system ships without an operating system installed.

Who It Suits

The HD 1366 x 768 non-touch display and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 suit office productivity, web browsing and remote management tasks. Buyers who need a higher-resolution screen, dedicated graphics performance or a touchscreen should look at other configurations.

Storage Decider

The single specification that decides fit is the new 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD, which provides a large, fast solid-state volume for the operating system and data. The two memory slots support up to 32 GB of DDR3 if additional RAM is required later.

Questions about this item

Does the 2 TB M.2 NVMe drive fit a standard 2280 slot?

The 2 TB M.2 NVMe SSD uses the standard M.2 2280 form factor and fits the laptop's single M.2 slot directly.

What is the correct way to install an operating system on the blank 2 TB M.2 NVMe drive?

Create bootable installation media on another computer, boot from it, and install the OS to the empty 2 TB M.2 NVMe drive; the drive is detected automatically.

Can the 8 GB DDR3 memory be upgraded to the 32 GB maximum later?

Yes, the laptop has two DDR3 slots supporting up to 32 GB total, so the existing 8 GB can be replaced with higher-capacity modules.
