Compact business ultraportable

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch full-HD laptop powered by a dual-core Intel Core i7-6500U processor running at 2.50 GHz with a 3.10 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed in a silver chassis.

Travellers needing a light Windows machine vs

Mobile professionals who value a thin 14 inch display, integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 and silent solid-state storage will find this configuration practical. Buyers who want more storage capacity than 240 GB or who require a dedicated graphics processor for heavy rendering should look at other models.

Dual-channel memory ceiling of 32 GB

Two memory slots support up to 32 GB of DDR3 RAM, so the 8 GB installed today can be doubled or quadrupled without replacing modules. If your workload demands more than 32 GB of system memory this platform cannot accommodate it.

Questions about this item

Will the 240 GB M.2 NVMe drive fit in the EliteBook 840 G3 slot?

The laptop uses an M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD and the 240 GB drive supplied matches that interface exactly.

How do I add more DDR3 memory and which slot should I use first?

The system has two DDR3 slots supporting up to 32 GB total; install the new module in the empty slot first for dual-channel operation.

When should I plan to replace the 240 GB NVMe SSD?

The drive is new, so replacement depends on usage; monitor SMART health and swap it if reallocated sectors appear or capacity becomes tight.
