HP EliteBook 840 G3 business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0" business laptop with a 1366 x 768 HD non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor with a turbo frequency of 3.10 GHz and 16GB of DDR3 memory. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed on a new 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD.

Upgrading from older ultraportables

This model replaces slower dual-core ultraportables that use mechanical hard drives and less memory. The jump is worth it when you need the responsiveness of NVMe storage and 16GB of RAM for multitasking across office applications and browser tabs. The 6th generation Core i7 provides a noticeable uplift in burst performance for short workloads.

Build integration and expansion

The laptop includes two memory slots supporting up to 32GB total, allowing a future upgrade from the factory 16GB. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles external displays without a discrete GPU. The M.2 NVMe slot is occupied by the boot drive, so additional internal storage would require a different form factor or external solution.
