Ready-to-deploy business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 arrives with a 14.0 inch HD panel at 1366 x 768 resolution. A dual-core Intel Core i5-6200U running at 2.30 GHz with a 2.80 GHz turbo handles everyday office workloads. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB NVMe drive keep multitasking responsive. No operating system is installed, so the buyer adds their preferred Windows or Linux image.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the i5-6200U maintains its turbo frequency within the chassis thermal envelope. Intel HD Graphics 520 accelerates desktop composition and video playback without a discrete GPU. The NVMe storage delivers consistent read and write throughput during large file transfers. Sixteen gigabytes of RAM reduces paging when multiple browser tabs and business applications run together.

Build quality and daily connectivity

The silver chassis follows the EliteBook durability standards for frequent travel. Integrated Bluetooth and a webcam support remote meetings without extra peripherals. Two memory slots allow an upgrade path to 32 GB when workloads grow. The M.2 NVMe slot accepts a second drive for expanded storage if required.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise does the Core i5-6200U generate during a full workday?

The dual-core i5-6200U runs at a 2.30 GHz base and 2.80 GHz turbo, so sustained loads keep thermals moderate and fan activity low in the 14.0" chassis.

What must I supply myself because the laptop ships with no operating system?

You need to provide a Windows licence or alternative OS installation media; the 240 GB NVMe drive is blank and ready for your chosen image.

Will my existing DDR3 SO-DIMMs work if I want to expand the 16 GB up to the 32 GB maximum?

Yes, the board uses DDR3 memory and has two slots total, so compatible SO-DIMMs can be added to reach the 32 GB limit.
