HP EliteBook 840 G3 laptop

This HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-6300U processor running at 2.40 GHz with a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz. It comes equipped with 32GB of DDR3 memory and a new 1TB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. The system ships without an operating system installed.

HD 1366 x 768 display limits

The 14.0-inch HD panel offers a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and does not support touch input. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the screen, which is suitable for office applications and video playback but not for colour-critical work or modern gaming. The non-touch surface reduces glare in bright offices.

Check OS and memory ceiling before ordering

You must supply and install your own operating system because none is included. The two memory slots are already populated to the 32GB maximum supported by the platform, so no further RAM upgrades are possible. Verify that your software licences allow installation on this hardware.

Questions about this item

Which configuration of the EliteBook 840 G3 should I choose if I need the maximum 32 GB of memory already installed?

This unit comes with 32 GB of DDR3 memory fitted across its two slots, reaching the 32 GB maximum supported by the platform, so no further memory upgrade is possible.

What does the 2.40 GHz base and 3.00 GHz turbo frequency of the Core i5-6300U mean for everyday workloads?

The dual-core processor runs at 2.40 GHz normally and can boost to 3.00 GHz when thermal headroom allows, giving responsive performance for office applications and web browsing.

How does the SATA interface affect the 1 TB SSD in this laptop?

The 1 TB SSD uses a 2.5-inch SATA connection, so its transfer speeds are limited to the SATA bus rather than a faster PCIe interface.
