HP EliteBook 840 G3 business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor. It ships with Windows 10 Home and targets professionals who need a reliable machine for office applications, email and web-based workflows. The silver chassis includes a 720p webcam and a full-size DisplayPort for external monitors.

8GB DDR4 memory and 512GB NVMe SSD

Eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe PCIe SSD provide responsive multitasking and fast boot times for typical productivity workloads. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 uses shared system memory and handles 1366 x 768 output on the internal IPS panel or an external display. Demanding 3D tasks or heavy video editing will exceed the graphics headroom.

Charger and battery included

The box contains the laptop, its AC charger and the internal battery so the system is ready to deploy immediately. A USB 3.1 Type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports, VGA, DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet and a SIM card reader cover legacy and modern peripherals without extra adapters. Buyers who need a higher-resolution screen or discrete graphics should consider other models.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0" 1366 x 768 panel and VGA port work with my older 1080p monitor?

The laptop outputs up to 1366 x 768 on its own screen; the VGA port can drive an external 1080p display, but the internal panel stays at its native resolution.

How can I verify the Intel Core i5-6300U and 8GB DDR4 are recognised after first boot?

Open Task Manager > Performance tab; you should see 2 cores, 4 threads at 2.4 GHz and 8 GB DDR4 listed under Memory.

Does the box contain a DisplayPort cable or only the charger and battery?

The package includes the laptop, charger and battery; a DisplayPort cable is not supplied and must be purchased separately.
