HP EliteBook 840 G3 14" FHD laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0" FHD laptop with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor with a base speed of 2.50 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.10 GHz. The system includes 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. Suits mobile professionals needing a compact

This laptop suits users who need a portable 14-inch machine for office applications, web browsing and video calls via the integrated webcam. Bluetooth is available for peripheral connectivity. Buyers who require a touchscreen, discrete graphics or more than 8GB of memory out of the box should consider other options. The dual-core processor limits performance in heavily threaded workloads.

500GB NVMe SSD with 32GB memory ceiling

The 500GB NVMe PCIe SSD provides fast boot and application loading for the operating system and a moderate file library. Two memory slots support up to 32GB total DDR3 capacity for future upgrades. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles everyday visual tasks and external displays. Storage headroom may become tight for users working with large media projects or extensive local databases.

Questions about this item

Does the laptop need any extra RAM modules to reach the 32 GB maximum?

Two DDR3 slots are fitted and 8 GB is already installed, so additional modules are required to reach 32 GB.

Will the 14.0 inch 1920 x 1080 FHD panel work with an older docking station that only has VGA output?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 supports VGA through a compatible dock or adapter, so the external display will function at its native resolution.

How can I confirm the 500 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD is recognised after first boot?

Open Disk Management in Windows 10 Home 64-bit and verify a single 500 GB NVMe volume appears with the correct capacity.
