Business laptop for office work

The HP EliteBook 840 G4 is a 14.0 inch laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-7300U dual-core processor running at 2.60 GHz with 3 MB cache. It comes with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed. The 1366 x 768 LED display is non-touch.

Charger and battery included

The bundle supplies the AC charger and the internal battery so the system can run away from a power outlet immediately. No optical drive is fitted. A VGA port, a full-size DisplayPort, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.1 Type C port handle video and data. Gigabit RJ-45 Ethernet and 802.11 wireless provide network access. A webcam and a SIM card reader are built in.

Integrated graphics and 768-pixel height limit

The Intel HD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory and suits general business applications but not 3D workloads. The 1366 x 768 panel caps vertical space at 768 pixels, which can require more scrolling in documents or spreadsheets. The dual-core CPU with four threads limits heavy multitasking or compile jobs. Grade B LCD means visible cosmetic blemishes on the screen surface.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 GB DDR4 memory need an upgrade later?

The 16 GB DDR4 is soldered and not user-replaceable, so no future memory upgrade is possible.

What limits the i5-7300U during long workloads?

The dual-core 2.6 GHz CPU with 3 MB cache hits its thermal ceiling first, causing clock-speed reduction under sustained load.

How loud and hot does the 14 inch chassis get all day?

The integrated Intel HD 620 graphics and 256 GB NVMe SSD produce modest heat; fan noise stays low during typical office use.
