Business laptop with 14.0 inch screen and 1 TB NVMe

This HP EliteBook 840 G4 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-7300U processor running at 2.60 GHz. It comes with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed. The silver chassis includes a 720p webcam and a variety of ports for office connectivity.

Suits mobile professionals needing legacy ports

Workers who rely on full-size VGA, DisplayPort or RJ-45 Ethernet will find the required connections built in. The dual-core CPU and integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 handle standard office applications and video conferencing. Buyers who want a touchscreen or a higher resolution panel should look at other models. The 1366 x 768 display is non-touch.

Deciding spec: 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD

The 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD provides substantial high-speed storage for large project files and fast system responsiveness. This single component determines whether the laptop can store a full local workload without external drives. If the capacity or interface does not match the storage requirement, a different configuration is needed.

Questions about this item

The 14.0-inch EliteBook 840 G4 measures 1366 x 768 pixels on its LED display; the silver chassis fits standard 14-inch laptop sleeves and briefcase compartments.

How do I replace the 1 TB NVMe M.2 SSD, and which screw do people forget?

Remove the bottom cover screws, lift the cover, unscrew the single M.2 retention screw, slide the NVMe drive out at an angle, insert the new drive, refit the retention screw, replace the cover and all screws.

When will the 16 GB DDR4 memory or the 1 TB NVMe SSD need replacement?

The 16 GB DDR4 is soldered and not user-replaceable; the 1 TB NVMe M.2 SSD can be swapped later if capacity or speed needs change.
