Compact Business Laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14.0-inch laptop built for professionals who need a portable Windows 10 Pro machine. It runs on an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor at 1.7 GHz with 8 GB of DDR4 memory. A 512 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD provides fast storage for documents and applications. The 1920 x 1080 FHD display uses LED backlighting and is non-touch.

Who This Suits and Who It Does Not

This laptop suits office workers, students and mobile staff who rely on web apps, email and standard productivity software. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory, so it is not for buyers who want more graphics power for gaming, video editing or 3D rendering. It also lacks a dedicated GPU and a touchscreen.

Deciding Specification — Graphics

The single specification that decides fit is the Intel UHD Graphics 620 with shared memory. If your workload needs a discrete graphics card or higher GPU performance, this model will not meet that need. For general business use, web browsing and video playback the integrated graphics are adequate.
