HP EliteBook 840 G5 business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14.0" business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor running at 1.7 GHz. It comes with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD for fast storage. The 1920 x 1080 FHD LED display and Windows 10 Pro complete a compact, professional package.

Suited for mobile office work.

This configuration suits professionals who need a reliable, portable Windows 10 Pro machine for document editing, video calls and web-based workflows. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory, so buyers who want discrete graphics for 3D rendering, modern gaming or intensive video encoding should look at a different system.

1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD decides storage speed

The single specification that determines whether this is the right part is the 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. It provides high-throughput solid-state storage that directly affects boot times, application launch speed and large-file handling. If your workload demands more capacity or a different drive interface, this unit will not match the requirement.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0" EliteBook 840 G5 drive my older 1080p monitor over HDMI?

Yes, the HDMI port supports 1920 x 1080 output, so your existing Full HD display will work at its native resolution.

How can I confirm the Intel UHD Graphics 620 and 8 GB DDR4 are recognised after first boot?

Open Device Manager and check Display adapters for Intel UHD Graphics 620, then open Task Manager > Performance > Memory to verify 8 GB DDR4 is detected.

Does the box contain a Thunderbolt 3 cable for the USB-C port, or must I buy one separately?

The shipment includes the laptop, charger and battery only; a Thunderbolt 3 cable is not supplied and must be purchased separately.
