Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 targets professionals who need a reliable 14.0 inch device for daily office work and travel. It runs on an Intel Core i5-8350U processor with four cores and eight threads at 1.70 GHz. The system includes 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD for fast boot and application loading. Windows 10 Home comes pre-installed.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the quad-core Kaby Lake R chip maintains its base frequency while the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory for video output. The 6 MB L3 cache helps keep frequent data close to the cores during long compile or spreadsheet sessions. Thermal management is handled by the internal fan assembly without external radiator dimensions provided. The 1920 x 1080 FHD panel with LED backlight stays legible during extended use.

Installation and common issues

The laptop arrives assembled with charger and battery so no internal hardware installation is required. Initial setup follows the standard Windows 10 out-of-box experience. Grade B units show cosmetic blemishes such as scratches or shiny key caps which do not affect function. Buyers who want a pristine cosmetic appearance should consider that limitation. The single Thunderbolt 3 port may restrict users needing multiple high-speed peripherals simultaneously.
