Built for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G6 pairs an Intel Core i7-8665U quad-core processor with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. A 14.0 inch FHD LED display running at 1920 x 1080 resolution provides clear visuals for document work and video calls. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed on this Grade B unit.

Check your peripheral needs

Verify that your external monitors accept HDMI or Thunderbolt 3 input before ordering. The laptop includes two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and one USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port for docks or displays. Gigabit RJ-45 and Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 handle wired and wireless networking. A 720p webcam is integrated above the screen.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 15 W processor shares system memory with Intel UHD Graphics, so extended compile or render sessions will throttle once thermal limits are reached. Fan noise becomes audible under continuous multi-core load. Battery runtime drops significantly when the CPU maintains high frequencies for long periods.

Questions about this item

Does the EliteBook 840 G6 come with a charger and battery, or do I need to buy them separately?

The package includes the laptop, a charger and the battery already installed, so no separate purchase is required for those items.

Should I choose the 1 TB NVMe drive or add a second drive for more capacity?

The single 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD provides ample space for Windows 11 Pro, applications and large files; a second drive is only needed if you expect to exceed that capacity.

How does the 1.9 GHz quad-core i7-8665U perform in everyday multitasking with 16 GB DDR4?

The four cores and eight threads at 1.9 GHz, combined with 16 GB of DDR4, handle typical office workloads, web browsing and video calls smoothly.
