Professional 14-inch notebook

The HP EliteBook 840 G6 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by a quad-core Intel Core i7-8665U processor running at 1.90 GHz with 8 MB cache. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed on this Grade B unit.

Mobile workers needing Thunderbolt 3

This model suits professionals who want a lightweight 14-inch chassis with a 1920 x 1080 FHD display and a single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port for docks or external displays. Buyers who need a touchscreen, discrete graphics or more than 8 GB of system memory should consider other configurations.

Quad-core U-series CPU at 15 W

The decisive specification is the Intel Core i7-8665U, a 4-core 8-thread processor with a 15 W thermal design. It delivers solid office and multitasking performance within a thin-and-light frame, but it cannot match higher-power H-series chips for sustained heavy workloads.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Intel Core i7-8665U get during all-day workloads?

The 15 W quad-core processor runs cool enough for the slim chassis; fan noise stays low during typical office tasks and ramps up only under sustained heavy load.

Which peripherals must I already own to use the single USB Type C Thunderbolt 3 port?

A Thunderbolt 3 dock or cable is required to drive external displays, high-speed storage or wired Ethernet through that port.

Will the 1920 x 1080 FHD panel and HDMI output work with my older 1080p monitor?

Yes, the built-in display and HDMI port both run at 1920 x 1080, so an existing Full HD screen connects directly without scaling problems.
