HP EliteBook 840 G8 touchscreen laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a 14.0-inch FHD touchscreen laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor with Intel Iris Xe Graphics. It comes with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD running Windows 11 Pro. This configuration suits professionals who need a responsive display and solid everyday performance in a compact silver chassis.

Sustained workload behaviour

The Intel Core i5-1145G7 operates at a 2.6GHz base frequency and uses integrated Iris Xe graphics that share system memory. Under continuous load the processor will manage thermals within the ultrabook chassis, so extended compile jobs or video exports run at controlled clocks rather than peak burst speeds. The 16GB RAM ceiling means heavy multitasking stays in memory without swap thrashing.

Installation notes

The laptop arrives with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed and a charger included, so first boot only requires accepting the licence and connecting to a network. BIOS updates and driver packs are delivered through HP Support Assistant or Windows Update. Buyers who need more storage than the single 512GB drive provides should plan for external expansion, as internal upgrade access is not detailed in the supplied data.

Questions about this item

How loud does the EliteBook 840 G8 fan get when the Core i5-1145G7 runs at 2.6 GHz all day?

The Intel Core i5-1145G7 operates at a base frequency of 2.6 GHz. Under continuous workloads the cooling fan spins up and becomes audible, while the silver chassis remains warm to the touch rather than hot.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the 14" FHD touchscreen and Windows 11 Pro out of the box?

The package includes the HP charger. No extra cables are required for the 1920 x 1080 touchscreen or Windows 11 Pro; simply connect the supplied power adapter and press the power button.

Will the Intel Iris Xe Graphics drive my older 1080p monitor alongside the built-in 14.0" display?

Yes. The Intel Iris Xe Graphics can output to an external 1920 x 1080 monitor while the internal 14.0" FHD touchscreen stays active, giving you a dual-screen setup with the older display.
