HP EliteBook 840 G8 14" business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a 14.0 inch business laptop with a silver chassis. It runs on an Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor with four cores reaching 4.4 GHz. The system includes 4 GB DDR4 3200 memory and a 256 GB SSD. A Spanish keyboard layout comes as standard.

Thermals and acoustics for daily office work

Integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics shares system memory and keeps heat output modest during typical productivity tasks. The fan runs quietly while handling documents, web browsing and video calls. Power draw stays low enough for all-day use away from a desk charger.

Build quality and connectivity implications

The 14 inch FHD IPS panel offers 1920 x 1080 resolution with anti-glare coating and 400 nits brightness. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 provide modern wireless links for peripherals and networks. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment. Buyers who need more memory or storage capacity should note the base configuration.

Questions about this item

How do I upgrade the 4GB DDR4-3200 memory, and which step do people often miss?

The 4GB DDR4-3200 module is installed in the single SO-DIMM slot; the step people miss is removing the bottom cover and disconnecting the battery before inserting the new stick.

What maintenance will the 256GB SSD and 400-nit IPS display need over time?

The SSD has no moving parts, so only firmware updates via Windows Update are required; clean the anti-glare 1920 x 1080 panel with a microfibre cloth and no liquids.

Which limit appears first during sustained loads on the Core i5-1145G7 with shared Iris Xe graphics?

The 4GB of shared system memory becomes the bottleneck, causing the integrated GPU to throttle before the 4.4GHz turbo can be sustained.
