HP EliteBook 840 G8 for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a 14.0 inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i7-1185G7 quad-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with 12 MB cache. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD under Windows 11 Pro 64-bit. The configuration targets professionals who need reliable performance for office applications, video calls and light content creation on the move.

Silver chassis with Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI

The silver aluminium chassis houses two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI output and a 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display with LED backlight. An integrated webcam and Intel Dual Band AX201 Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 5.2 support hybrid meetings. The Thunderbolt 4 ports handle power delivery, data and external displays through a single cable, reducing desk clutter for docked workflows.

Shared graphics memory and fixed 8 GB RAM

Intel Iris Xe Graphics uses shared system memory, so the 8 GB DDR4 pool serves both the CPU and GPU during graphics workloads. The memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded, limiting multitasking headroom for large datasets or virtual machines. Buyers who need more than 8 GB RAM or a discrete GPU for sustained 3D rendering should consider a different platform.

How is Windows 11 Pro installed on this unit, and what step do buyers often miss?

Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed and activated; the common miss is skipping the initial OOBE setup and driver updates after first boot.
