HP EliteBook 840 G8 14.0-inch business laptop

This new HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a 14.0-inch business laptop running Windows 10 Pro with downgrade rights from Windows 11 Pro. It targets professionals who need a quad-core Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor with 12 MB L3 cache and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. The non-touch IPS panel delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution with anti-glare coating.

16 GB DDR4 3200 memory and 256 GB PCIe SSD

The system ships with 16 GB of DDR4 3200 memory in a dual-channel 8 GB x 2 configuration that fills both available slots. The 256 GB PCIe SSD provides the primary storage with no mechanical hard drive installed. Memory headroom is limited because no slots remain free for expansion.

Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 and Bang & Olufsen audio

Wireless connectivity uses Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.0 for modern peripheral support. Audio by Bang & Olufsen drives dual stereo speakers alongside a three-microphone array for conferencing. The spill-resistant backlit keyboard adds durability for mobile work environments.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0" 1920 x 1080 IPS display work alongside my older 1080p external monitor without scaling issues?

The built-in panel runs at 1920 x 1080 native resolution and the Intel Iris Xe graphics can drive a second 1080p screen at the same pixel density, so text and UI elements remain consistent across both displays.

How can I verify the Intel Core i7-1165G7 and Intel Iris Xe graphics are performing correctly after first boot?

Open Task Manager's Performance tab and confirm the CPU shows four cores with a 2.80 GHz base speed and the GPU lists Intel Iris Xe with shared system memory; run the Windows 10 Pro display calibration to check the 250 nits anti-glare panel.

Does the box include a second DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM so I can populate both memory slots?

The laptop ships with 16 GB configured as 8 GB x 2 filling both SODIMM slots, so no additional memory module is included or needed; the 256 GB PCIe SSD is pre-installed and the Windows 10 Pro licence is activated via downgrade rights from Windows 11 Pro.
