HP EliteBook 840 G8 for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a thin-and-light business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-1185G7 quad-core processor with 12 MB cache. It ships with 32 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD, running Windows 11 Pro on a 14.0-inch 1920 x 1080 display. Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics use shared system memory for everyday productivity tasks.

Practical limits of Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.0 provide modern wireless connectivity, but throughput still depends on router capability and local interference. The two Thunderbolt 4 ports support high-speed peripherals and external displays, yet total bandwidth is shared across both ports and any daisy-chained devices. The single HDMI output handles one additional monitor without requiring a dock.

Straightforward deployment with one common snag

Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed, so the laptop is ready for domain join or Intune enrolment out of the box. Driver packs are available from the vendor for automated imaging. The main friction point appears when legacy USB-A accessories require adapters, because the chassis prioritises Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI over older ports.
