HP EliteBook 850 G2 15.6 inch FHD laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G2 is a 15.6 inch business laptop with a 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.30 GHz and a turbo frequency of 2.90 GHz. The system includes 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. No operating system is installed.

Suits users needing a ready-to-assemble portable

This unit suits buyers who want a silver EliteBook 850 G2 chassis with a fresh 240GB SSD and 8GB RAM to install their own OS. It is not for buyers who need a machine that arrives with Windows pre-loaded and licensed. It is not for users who require more than 16 GB of total memory or who need a touchscreen display.

Maximum memory supported is 16 GB

The laptop provides two memory slots and supports a maximum of 16 GB of DDR3 RAM. With 8GB already installed, only one additional module can be added to reach the limit. This ceiling decides whether the EliteBook 850 G2 can handle the workloads you plan to run.

Questions about this item

Does the 15.6" EliteBook 850 G2 use 2.5" SATA drives for the 240GB SSD?

Yes, the 240GB SSD is a 2.5" SATA drive, so any 2.5" SATA SSD or HDD will fit the drive bay.

What is the correct way to install the operating system on a unit that ships with no OS?

Create a bootable USB installer for Windows or Linux, enter the BIOS boot menu at startup, and select the USB device to begin installation.

Can the 8GB DDR3 memory be expanded later, and what is the maximum supported?

The laptop has two DDR3 slots and supports up to 16GB total, so you can add an 8GB module to reach the maximum.
