HP EliteBook 850 G2 business laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G2 is a 15.6" FHD laptop built around an Intel Core i5-5200U dual-core processor running at 2.20 GHz with a 2.70 GHz turbo frequency. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 128GB 2.5" SATA SSD. Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles the 1920 x 1080 display. No operating system is installed.

Suits buyers who want a ready-to-deploy business

This unit fits IT teams that image their own Windows or Linux builds on a silver EliteBook frame with webcam and Bluetooth. Buyers who need more than 16GB of total memory or a dedicated graphics processor should look at something else. The dual-core CPU also limits heavy multi-threaded workloads such as video encoding or virtualization clusters.

New 128GB SSD and no OS shift setup time

The factory-fresh 128GB SATA drive means no used-media uncertainty and immediate partitioning for the chosen OS. Absence of a pre-loaded system removes bloatware but adds the step of acquiring and installing a licence. The 365-day parts-and-labour cover applies to the hardware only.

Questions about this item

Does the 15.6" FHD 1920 x 1080 display need a separate OS licence to work?

The laptop ships with no operating system, so you must supply your own Windows or Linux licence before the 15.6" 1920 x 1080 screen can show a desktop.

Will the Intel HD Graphics 5500 drive a legacy VGA projector through the dock?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 supports analogue output via the docking connector, so older VGA projectors work without an active adapter.

How can I confirm the new 128GB SSD is recognised at 2.5" SATA speed after install?

Enter the BIOS at boot; the drive should appear as a 128GB SATA device with the correct capacity listed.
