Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i7-8650U get when the EliteBook 850 G5 runs all day?

The 15 W quad-core processor is cooled by an internal fan; during extended workloads the chassis warms noticeably but remains comfortable for lap use and fan noise stays at a low office-friendly level.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI ports on this EliteBook 850 G5?

You need a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C cable for the Type-C port and a standard HDMI cable for the HDMI output; the laptop includes its own charger so no extra power adapter is required.

Will my older USB 3.0 drives and Gigabit Ethernet cables work at full speed with the 850 G5?

Yes, the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports and the RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet jack are backward compatible, so legacy USB 3.0 devices and Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables operate at their rated speeds.
