Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 850 G5 combines an Intel Core i7-8650U processor with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe SSD. A 15.6 inch FHD display running at 1920 x 1080 resolution provides a clear workspace for documents and video calls. Windows 11 Pro is installed and ready for deployment.

Sustained workload behaviour

The quad-core processor operates at a 15W thermal design power with a 1.90 GHz base frequency and 8MB cache. Under continuous load the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory rather than using dedicated video RAM. Thermal throttling may occur during extended heavy compute tasks because the cooling solution is sized for typical business workloads.

Chassis, ports and daily implications

Grade B condition means the silver chassis shows visible cosmetic blemishes such as scratches or shiny keyboard surfaces. Connectivity includes two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one USB Type C Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet. The non-touch LED backlit screen and integrated webcam support routine office and remote collaboration use.

Questions about this item

How warm and loud does the i7-8650U get under a full-day workload?

The 15W quad-core i7-8650U runs cool enough for typical office loads; fan noise stays low during light use and rises only during sustained heavy tasks.

Which peripherals do I need to add before this EliteBook 850 G5 is ready to work?

The laptop ships with a charger and battery; Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed, so only a network cable or Wi-Fi access point is required to get online.

Will my older USB 3.0 drives and HDMI monitor work with the Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI ports?

Yes — the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and HDMI 1.4 output are backward compatible with existing USB 3.0 devices and 1080p displays.
