Built for business mobility

The HP EliteBook 850 G6 combines a 15.6 inch Full HD display with an Intel Core i7-8565U quad-core processor, 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and includes Thunderbolt, HDMI, fingerprint reader and B&O audio. The aluminium chassis measures .74 inches thin and weighs 3.94 lbs.

Capacity and headroom

The 512GB NVMe drive provides fast boot and application loading for typical office workloads and local project files. 16GB DDR4 handles multitasking across browser tabs, documents and video calls without paging. Integrated UHD Graphics 620 supports external 4K at 60 Hz but is not suited for 3D rendering or modern gaming.

Upgrade considerations

This unit replaces an older 8th-generation EliteBook with a slower dual-core CPU, 8GB RAM or a 256GB SSD. The jump is worthwhile when daily work involves heavy spreadsheets, virtual machines or frequent docking to dual 4K monitors. Buyers who need discrete graphics, a touchscreen or more than 16GB memory should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the Thunderbolt port work with my older USB-C dock that only supports USB 3.1?

The Thunderbolt port accepts USB-C connectors and will fall back to USB 3.1 speeds with your existing dock.

How can I verify the i7-8565U is hitting its 4.6 GHz boost after setup?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab and watch the CPU frequency climb to 4.6 GHz during a heavy single-thread load.

Does the box include a Thunderbolt cable for an external monitor, or must I buy one?

The laptop ships with its power adapter only; a Thunderbolt video cable for a monitor is a separate purchase.
