Rugged Chromebook for education

The HP Fortis G1m is an 11.6 inch clamshell built to withstand classroom knocks and spills. It runs Chrome OS on a MediaTek Kompanio 520 octa-core processor with Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores. Four gigabytes of memory and 32 GB of flash storage handle web apps and offline files for primary and secondary students.

Integrated graphics and fixed memory

The Mali G52 MP2 GPU shares system memory, so there is no separate video RAM to upgrade. Storage is soldered at 32 GB, and the 4 GB RAM ceiling is already reached, leaving no room for expansion. Chrome OS updates and Android app support are delivered through the standard Google channel for this device.

Check power and peripheral needs

The charger and any USB-C accessories you plan to use must match the port specification on this unit. Verify that your school management console supports Chrome OS enrolment for this model before deployment. Confirm that required web apps and Android titles run on ARM architecture at 1366 by 768 resolution.

Questions about this item

Is the 4 GB memory soldered or can I add more later?

The 4 GB is the maximum supported, so no upgrade is possible.

Will the MediaTek Kompanio 520 throttle during long classroom sessions?

The octa-core ARM Cortex A76 and A55 design handles sustained workloads within its thermal envelope.

Does the fanless design stay quiet and cool when left on all day?

With no moving parts the system runs silently and the low-power chip keeps surface temperatures modest.
