A 40 Gbps QSFP+ transceiver for 10 km single-mode links at 1310 nm with DOM and duplex LC connectors

  • Product typeTransceiver
  • 40 Gbps throughput for long-haul links
  • 10 km reach over single-mode fibre
  • 1310 nm wavelength for low dispersion
  • QSFP+ form factor fits standard cages
  • DOM support enables real-time monitoring

40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ Transceiver

This HP JG661A module delivers 40 GbE connectivity over single-mode fibre up to 10 km. It uses a 1310 nm wavelength and a duplex LC connector with digital optical monitoring. The transceiver suits data-centre and campus links that require long-reach 40 GbE performance.

Suits 40 GbE single-mode links.

Network teams extending 40 GbE between buildings or across campus will find the reach and monitoring they need. Buyers who need multimode compatibility or a different form factor should look elsewhere.

10 km reach on single-mode fibre

The 10 km distance at 1310 nm is the specification that determines whether this transceiver fits the link. Verify that your path loss and connector type match before purchase.

Questions about this item

What distance limit appears first when the HP JG661A runs at full 40 Gbps load?

The module is rated for 10 km over single-mode fibre, so link budget is the first practical limit.

How much heat and noise does the JG661A add during continuous operation?

As a passive optical transceiver it has no fan; heat stays within normal QSFP+ limits and it adds no audible noise.

Which port type and fibre must already be in place for this transceiver to work?

You need a QSFP+ port and duplex LC single-mode fibre patch cables.
