HP 1TB SAS Hard Drive

This HP MB1000FCWDE drive provides 1TB of storage with a 7200RPM spindle and a SAS 6Gb/s interface in a 3.5-inch form factor. The 32MB buffer supports consistent throughput for enterprise workloads. Each unit ships new with an included Smart Carrier caddy for hot-plug installation.

Suits servers needing midline SAS drives

It fits HP server bays that accept 3.5-inch LFF SAS drives and benefit from the supplied carrier. Buyers needing 2.5-inch SFF form factors or capacities beyond 1TB should look at other models. The drive is not intended for external enclosures or non-SAS backplanes.

6Gb/s SAS interface decides fit

The drive connects only to controllers and backplanes that support SAS 6Gb/s signalling. A 3Gb/s-only controller will limit performance or prevent detection. Verify the host system lists SAS 6Gb/s compatibility before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How does the 7200 RPM spindle speed affect sustained write performance?

The 7200 RPM rotation keeps sequential throughput steady during long write sessions, avoiding the slowdown seen on slower spindles.

What is the typical heat output when the drive runs continuously in a server chassis?

Enterprise midline drives at this spindle speed run warm but stay within standard 3.5-inch bay cooling limits when airflow is adequate.

Does the included Smart Carrier tray fit non-HP SAS backplanes?

The tray matches HP 3.5-inch hot-plug bays; other backplanes may need a different carrier or adapter.
