HP Nano Keyed Cable Lock 1AJ39AA

The HP Nano Keyed Cable Lock 1AJ39AA is a physical security accessory designed to protect notebooks and tablets in offices and high-traffic public areas. It secures a device by tethering it to a fixed object using a vinyl-coated galvanised steel cable. The lock features a thin profile and a black finish. It is intended for users who need a simple, keyed deterrent against opportunistic theft.

Installation and common issues

Wrap the 1.83 m cable around a secure anchor point and attach the lock head to the device's security slot. Insert the supplied key and turn it clockwise 90 degrees to engage the locking mechanism. The head offers a 360-degree range of motion for flexible positioning. The main installation issue occurs when a device lacks a compatible nano security slot, preventing the lock from attaching.

Practical limits of the cable lock

The 1.83 m cable length restricts the distance between the device and the anchor point. The vinyl-coated steel construction resists cutting but can be defeated by determined attackers with appropriate tools. The keyed mechanism provides convenience but keys can be lost, removing authorised access. This lock secures one device per unit; buyers needing to protect multiple systems simultaneously will require additional locks.
